Money Smart for Older Adults (MSOA) is stand-alone instructor-led training module developed by Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) which provides awareness among older adults and caregivers on how to prevent elder financial exploitation and to encourage advance planning and informed financial decision-making. The following seven topics are covered: Common Types of Elder Financial Exploitation, Scams Targeting Veterans, Identity Theft, Medical Identity Theft, Scams that Target Homeowners, Planning for Unexpected Life Events, How to Be Financially Prepared for Disasters. The curriculum is available free of charge; orders can be placed online.
